    Found Two Old Bolens Plows

Apparently the early Simplicity 10" moldboard ploughs were used on both 4 and two wheel garden tractors as this manual points out http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/heCBEN8aqO3rE3Cvh5kbp796Dq.pdf This model the 990464 plough was for latter 1960's pedestrian and riding tractors, another model the 990204 was for the early Simplicity 700, 725, and the Allis B1 My coulter wheel attachment is different and may be from a Wards, but the early Bolens plough beams were straight, not curved. Definitely an Ohio Steel Plow, I think, lol.

    Project "Why Not"

Thanks James, it will be good to see her in paint.. Can't wait Was that the Ford red that faded? I think I need to go to Halfrauds and have a look in the paint department.. I'm guessing they still have space for a paint department in between all the kids push bikes and boy racer massive speakers? There shouldn't be, all I need to do is read through this build thread I've got almost 1000 photos of the build.. It's been a slow week with WN, tidying welds, welding the odd place or two I had missed, and capping off loads of open box section.. I'm happy to say that despite the thrashing I have been giving WN, there has been no signs of any broken welds which could mean.. A - The chassis is a good strong design.. Or B - I've not been driving her hard enough.... Fully welded up and red oxide'd. I thought I'd find that out today Paul, so I dug a light backing plate/bulb holder out and screwed it to the bonnet.. It was close but not quite enough space... However if I trim a bit off the top of the light backing then it should just slide in

    What is it?

It is a Moth, and it is green, does anyone know what it is? I know what it is, just wondered if these are over your way. They only live a week and have no mouth. We get these guys from time to time, and when they fly, their lower wings hang down like legs and they look like Tinkerbell. My wife had never seen one and when it appeared on the back porch last light fluttering around the light looking like Tinkerbell, she went off her rocker, especially after I told her it was Tinkerbell and that we were having a tryst. In all fairness her eyes are worse than mine, and her sense of humor has been waning of lately as well, lol

    Bolens H16

Paul,The old chap is a lovely old gentlemen of the Old School; decent, honest and amusing. They live in a typical Cornish Valley with sub tropical plants surrounding them as it's so mild down there. They were only selling as they are selling up due to thier age and ill health. In his barn he got an old Fergie with a FEL and assorted old machinery in various states of dilapidation. I always like the social history of my machinery whether it's classic cars or old garden tractors. To me it's all part of the fun of buying vintage machinery. It was a lucky find as I was just idly browsing on Gumtree and I spotted this 'Ride On' in Cornwall. When I saw the price, that sold it for me. Looking forward to pick it up soon. Cheers Andrew

    Got these for free.

Decided to put the Black Horse on the table and check out some settings for plough depth. I found the battery was flat, so no time like the present to test the winch. Up and on it went with little bother. I did find, as the tractor started to go up the ramps, the table tilted a bit. So some support legs are on the cards. Maybe get those done this afternoon. Also the table didn't want to pump up. Not surprising really. Tractor, plough and front weight will be a bit heavier than 185kg. Still 17" off the ground gave a comfortable working height. The table could be set higher, before loading the tractor though. Not that I'll be working under it.

Why you never meet women online

Pictures are absolutely misleading. Its kind of like those glamour or boudoir photos, or the ones the estate agents hand out that are retouched. Well I bid on an air compressor at this auction site because the compressor was only a 100 miles away and I was going that way. It seemed like a nice portable shop air compressor, one of the older generation that really lasts, well in the picture it was next to some electric motors that I thought were 1-2 hp motors, upon arriving at the auction site the electric motors turned out to be the size of a cow and so did the "date" I had won on auction for 150.00, and at nearly 300kg that works out to 2kg to the dollar. Apparently it has a 5 hp 220 volt motor with a tank that could power the Queen Mary for a jaunt in the harbor. They loaded it in the van with a crane, had to take the front skids loose to lower it enough to pass into the cargo area, it was 51 inches tall, I managed to get some smooth 2x12 wood ramps to the back of the van and pull it rear ward with a come along until I could slide it down the ramps enough to reattach the front two skids, then pulled it to the end of the ramps and lifted one end (it wasn't the light end, there wasn't a light end) onto a heavy duty dolly and danced a jig getting her centered on the dolly. From now on I'm sticking with skinny air compressors, the ones that stand up. Thinking back after wrestling the old girl out of the van, why didn't I least take the trailer, oh yeah, she looked svelte.

agree with you entirely, I made a bid last year on a small spool valve from a case skid steer loader. It looked the size of a D series one. I went to collect and the the guy carried it from his 4x4 with two hands! it was 9 inches square and weighed 10lbs! I apologised for wasting his time and left it....
