    Ransomes Turf Trac /Steiner

Finally got back to the loader, the delay turned out to be a good thing because after a lot of thunking I decide that all I needed to do to make it fit properly was to drill two new holes in the 3/8" plate that the rear mount rod goes through, 30mm holes so it took me a while last night but got there in the end. Fitted it up today and off we go all works a treat. Needs substantial ballast weight on the rear if I stand in the bucket the back wheels leave the ground ( yes I know I need to diet ).

    Project "Why Not"

Thanks mate.. Well, you know what they say about blokes and instructions........ Today my mission was to get my blast cabinet working which meant sorting out the dust extraction once and for all.. After drilling a big hole and a couple of bolt holes in the side of the cabinet, I bolted this filter on that had been kicking about for years... It did come with the blast cabinet which I found a bit strange as the only "hole with bolt holes" was way bigger with 3 not 2 bolt holes.... So it got wrapped up in a random bit of paper and stuffed in a draw until today.. On the inside I folded up this cover to stop the inside of the filter from getting blasted away.. It was whilst bolting the inside cover on that I noticed this strange box like thing at the back of the cabinet under the light! Can you guess what's behind it? As it happens the space behind the cabinet is so tight the filter wouldn't of been able to let any air in anyway, so it kinda all worked out for the best! Oh... And the random bit of paper the filter was wrapped in all those years ago... Were the instructions! A few of the bits that have been blasted and coated in the red stuff.. As WN's dash panel had started to rust under the clear coat, it got blasted and hit with clear again.. It's a bit hard to make out but it almost looks like metallic silver only with more metallic showing.. Get it in the right light and it almost sparkles..

Going with the electric clutch rather than the manual clutch on this D-160 for the rear PTO and will put the manual clutch with the double pulley on the other D that will run a mower if I get another rear PTO.

Just a thought... Or maybe more!

A couple of more suitable? engines for sale Saturday at Cheffins auction, Ian, a Rolls Royce Merlin and Griffon in running order, complete on demonstration trailers, ready to display, just sit a 'willing assistant' Nigel? in the chair behind the prop, full revs, release the brakes and accelerate as if from a steam catapult. Also a full size mk9 Spitfire replica for sale, if that takes your fancy.

    Engine cooling fins

In the absence of a Dremel, a length of wooden dowl or steel rod with a slot in the end. Thread a bit of the appropriate grit emery cloth through the slot and run at moderate speed in the drill.

    More finds at John's.

A few more items found weeks ago while clearing out at John's. First, a 9" diameter wheel. Crude and not perfectly round. Any idea's anyone. Steering or control wheel.? 1/2" bar and split clamp with 1/2" bore. Next, an odd looking spring compressor. Third is a Potato lifter ? Can be angled left or right. Well, it could if it wasn't it seized up. Various other seized up adjustments too. And the biggest turnbuckle / tensioner the Showman says he has ever seen. He is wondering if he can use it on a future project. Mentioned on the forum recently was a few lengths of box section steel with Royal Mail lettering. Stormin Norm requested they be thrown into the Showman's van for him for when they next meet. Chris was muttering something today about making a special delivery, signed for and tracked, trip. Well, his van is red. After tearing himself away from tea and coffee making duties at home, he has to keep his builders happy, Chris was sent to collect some roofing tiles from John. Where else. To make the trip worth while, and due to a shortage of red bits, another load of sticks went back home with him. Another nice but cold "What can we find today" day.

Wheel Horse D-160 AG Tires On

They do bulge a tad. As you might, or might not know there are two D series rim sizes, 12" and 15", I have both, but it is almost impossible to find an AG tire in 15 inch. There are two choices 6.7-15 inch wide (which is actually a implement or pedestrian tractor tire), which would also bulge on a 7 inch wide 15" Wheel Horse rim, REALLY look stupid, The next 15 inch tire available is the 30x12-15 Carlisle Tru Powers which wont fit, because the tires would be too tall. The 30" tires I have are on the wide 10" rims and because of the wide rim they only measure 29" tall, the wide rim pulls them down, just like a pinching in on narrower rim would push them up. If I had opted for the 30x12-15 Tru-Powers on the 7-15 wheel Horse rims it would have pushed them up over 31", wouldn't fit. I really had no choice unless I wanted to lift the rear fenders and have it jacked up in back like a Serbian Yugo. I could have kept the same size all around, but the tires on most GTs were designed for mowing, wide/short tires all the way around, I wanted these tractors to have some ground clearance. To give you a good example of what I mean, other than setting to plow next to George and his Gutbrod look at the last picture in my post of my other D-160 with the the 27x9-15 Maxxis Ceros tires, they measure out at almost 28" tall because they are 9 inch wide tires on a stock wheel horse 7 inch wide rims that pushed the tire upward almost an inch. Now glance at the middle of the tractor to the angle adjustment on the snow plow, see how low it is to the ground even with 27x9-15 rears and 4-10 fronts, it is 1-1/2" inches closer to the ground with stock tires. Interco offers a 27x7.5-12 and -14 tire just like this one, but I would have to find a 6 hole narrower rim. Can you start to see my dilemma?

    I'm digging my potatoes

I was sat sitting on the patio with a cuppa and noticed this on the gavel so out of curiosity I tried on the back of the Rowcrop and it fitted straight in the slot hitch, lifted it up with the deck handel and that gave me 4 inches of ground clearance. Its now in bits and down the shot blasters, don't know when i will get it back but will post some pickys when i do

I think she was 9 or 10 when she sketched this, about 5 or 6 years ago, Alex Marie will be 16 this coming October almost 16. I was cooking somethin, not sure what, but the stove got short or she thought i was very tall. Gus died a year ago February 22, he was with me through thick and thin for over 14 years. I love the little wag marks she made, even with a stub he would wag tail and butt. This was the smartest, kindest, gentlest, and loyal companion a man could ever have
