The weather was superb today prompting a turn out of some 65 tractors to compete. 6 machines in the horticultural class I went along for fun with the MG40N and a trailed plough just to keep Stormin happy, I really enjoyed it once I had sorted a seized disc swivel. Thanks to Tam Tweedie for the tuition. His MG6 and TS42 plough looked really tidy. Prize for best turn out must go to Norm though the black horse looked spotless and performed really well shame Norman was poorly. The small tractors attracted a lot of interest and showed that they were well able to keep up with the big boys. I was really pleased that I managed to achieve a last furrow for the finish that was straight, parallel and 12" wide but when I tried to plough it out the plough kicked over sideways and missed a bit in the middle.

I did indeed enjoy the day. It was grand off the Scots lads to come down. Especially all the way from Perth. They were good company and helpful. I'll say nothing about them going home with arms full of raffle prizes. Bit like the Border Reivers of old. Some more photo's. My split. Tam. (Ransomes Plooman.

Hi All It looks as if you all had a good time, nice to share ideas and come away happy if you come in first or last you are all winners and friends to the end Ps Norman You will still need one or two more trips to Scotland to learn the craft Wee tip when ploughing the finish The last four furrows raise the depth inch each time then last furrow make little bit deeper this gives the plough some ground to hold onto and will not slip over as you describe otherwise well done to you all Frae the Fife plooman

    4 x 6 trailer

I bought an old trailer at auction a few months back and I am getting around to fixing it up a bit. Two coats of Industrial enamel with hardener and reducer made the metal look fairly good, after three hours sanding and prepping. I used some left over oil base rusty metal primer, oil stain, and varnish to make a paint stew for the old wood, Then I made some tali light brackets from some left over metal bits. Later this week I will install the wiring, attach the lights, and finally install the jack mount and tongue jack. Before and after pictures below.

    Gutbrod 1032

Hi All, just thought I would introduce my Gutbrod 1032. i have restored it completely then modified it to suit my purposes. I move my 22ft caravan with it. It looks a bit odd but dose the job. I was having trouble at low revs having to slip the clutch so I fitted a 16hp honda copy engine. It has hydraulic rear linkage, 55amp alternator and I have just managed to fit Barford Atom 15 wheel weights . giving me 32kg each side plus water balasted rear wheels. It will now plough solid clay without having to use diff lock. I hope this dosn,t offend the purests with all the mods but it dose the jobs i require of it Just need a Rotovator now !

Manual? What manual? Wasn't a championship match or a race. Just some simple rules, for simple folk to enjoy the day.

Wheel Horse D-160 AG Tires On

What are the ruts in the yard for? Looks like the grass was a tad high, I think the grass gauge was at bale, not mow, lol. Looks like the WH is doing fine.

Depends on the ground you are ploughing Rhys people were using both today the skim coulter is very good for burying stubble.

I would try to find something bigger, and a tandem, even if I had to make it. something like the Brinly I have on the Ariens or the Cub Cadet tandem disc , or a cut down section of farm disc. The extra width and second row will really mulch things up.

A small break in and amongst other jobs meant I finished off the pipe work. It's all neatly routed behind the fender and through the hood stand. Tank is now under the seat, but I forgot to take a picture.

Wheel Horse D-160 AG Tires On

The Maxxis Ceros 27x9-15 is a great AG alternative, that works on turf as well, its the tires on my second D-160, the last picture.

    Lancaster chain saw

I'm not overly familiar with these but are the crankcase seals good? If not then it will not draw fuel properly.
