    Mower Deck refurbishment

Back at last. Finished machining the 2 Spacer Collars- Heat treated them on Sunday, as I then used the Oven (while roasting Dinner) to temper them for an hour at 200c. Polished up and all good with no distortion, should be as hard and strong as the originals The 'T' shaped Lift Bar that fits in the Tractor Frame was in a mess. Distorted, rusty and worn out (sound's like me). I was going to cut the Pivot Rod and Pin off, then make and weld on new ones, but a 2nd check meant that I could get away with straightening, cleaning and adding weld metal to bring back to good nick. Made a new bushing for it- Also had to make and harden 2 more Spacers for the Deck Brackets to take the wear/slop out of the Draught Bar's pivots (Draft Bar U.S and Swingletree in old English). So a little collection of bits which sort out the Deck to Tractor issues- The Spring n Brass collar with the Fibre washer are a 'cunning plan' mod to retain grease in the Blind hole in the Tractor Frame and keep the dirt out Made new Rubber Bumpers for the Draught Bars and so all ready to fit- Mmm, should have cropped that image a bit. So (2nd) repaired Spindle now in the Deck, have parts to make a whole spare Spindle Ass'y once the odd size bearing arrives (and machine/harden a big spacer). Found the 2 Trunnions are well worn, so making new ones of them at the mo' - . Mark n Ewan's supplied decals are stuck on, so not far to go now, you'll be glad to hear !.

    New Shelves for the Chainsaws

I picked these shelves up for 160.00 with looking casters. I'm going to order one more shelf, but for now its housing my old Homelites pretty well. I hope to have 40 more old Homelites of different years and models, so I may need a few more shelves. I'm not sure I risk asking the wife to park her car outside to make room for shelving and chainsaws. I already have three more than when I took this photo.

    A Beautiful Visitor

Very nice shot Alain. A Red Spotted Purple Admiral. A good 3 1/2" wingspan. Wish we had some that size over here. I used to know all of the British Butterflies when I was young and I recall I had only 10 that I had never seen.

    New arrival.. Wheel Horse D-200

Thanks Norm, yep road registered and still on the DVLA computer.. Thanks Harry.. Plans are not much.. Fit a 3 point on the back, maybe make pallet fork, then just a wipe over with an oily rag once in a while.. I like how she looks Thanks Chris, a new seat would be good, one that will now backwards by a few inches would be better I have plenty of new lights for the back, not sure if I want to fit them though.. Hi Richard, yes the ol D is in quite good health, the trans whines a bit but so do I I remember the tiny WH sticker thing on Andy's D, plenty of them on my D! Thanks Paul, good to catch up with you Friday, I seem to remember you having a big grin as you drove the D around the carpark Not much to report, the D gets better each time she is driven. The engine always starts first time every time Speaking of the engine, a new vacum fuel pump was fitted so I could get rid of the "tank on a plank" that was clamped on the front and use the D's original tank.. The engine was also missing a cover, so I quickly folded one up from a bit of sheet steel.. Not pretty but does the job. The D's first official duty, carting some steel panels up from the scrap pile

    New arrival.. Wheel Horse D-200

Morning all, sorry I've not posted or even been on MOM of late, life has been stupidly busy to say the least!! Anyway, a long long time ago there was a thread on good old RedSquare about which wheel horse would be on your "wanted hit list". One of them was a GT-14 which thanks to Neil, one came my way.. A great machine which has now moved to pastures new.. The other I'm sure you can guess from the title was a D-200 Nigel bought this machine from Harry with the thought of changing the engine (which had a knock according to the bloke Harry bought it from), to something a bit different.. Then Nigel made the mistake of saying something along the lines of "I expect you will end up owning the D eventually". Which got me thinking A bit of a play with the wiring (The PTO switch had been badly by-passed) and the engine had a spark, and a temporary gravity fed fuel tank sorted out the fuel side of things.. Much to Nigel and my surprise the engine fired right up and sounded good with sign of any knocking sounds! The trans is a bit noisy but that may sort it's self out with a bit of use as the Big D hadn't been used in a very long time.. A few photo's for you.. And of course a video.... I hope to get an engine running and driving vid edited today, but for now here's an intro vid..

    To old to shuffle

Halfway through the day I decided to change the tractors around that I'm taking to Rural past times and change trailer as the one outside was a bit tacky. The one I wanted was right at the back of my well organised storeage shed so had to shuffle everything to get it out. By 4 pm I started to wander if i made the right decision not to mention the heavy rain we had. by 7.15 i had the Bolens and Raider 12 in the van with the posh trailer and everything thrown back in the shed.

    The Dirty Dozen

Well they are actually fairly clean except for some recent saw dust in cutting down the damaged plum tree. My newest addition is a red XL-76, its a 58.1cc saw made from 1974 to 1984 for the Canadian market. It came with its original 16" sprocket tip bar and good chain. This is my first, but not last, Canadian made Homelite made by Terry Industries of Pointe Claire, Quebec. The top row are 58.1 cc saws, the second row is 77 and 82 cc saws, and the bottom row are 37-41 cc Models EZ, Super EZ, and Super Mini SL. The bottom row saws are about 11 pounds while the second row are 14.5 pounds, and the top row come in just under 14 pounds. Many of these models were made just a few years with two only being produced one year. I have another 25-28 models yet to acquire. Is 40 chainsaws too many? I might be able to cut it down to 35. My wife is a Saint, truly a Saint.

    This Years Garden

I put up tarps on three sides of the fence to protect the corn, but that didn't stop two tornado's from sucking the kernels off the cob, the green beans never produced a bean, the peppers and onions didn't produce or grow, but the radishes, yellow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers did exceptionally well. We are getting a dozen cherry tomatoes and four or five Romas a day off three plants. I have four more Roma plants just starting to produce and ttwo beefsteak plants also ready to produce. I also have 5 other varieties about 6 inch tall and doing well. We got over two dozen large zucchini's this year and four or five times that of the yellow squash. I only had four cucumber plants, but we have gotten a couple dozen, about a fourth of them are odd short fat ones and the rest are beautiful 9 inchers. The two watermelon plants have produce four large Black Diamond melons over 25 lbs, we got two and the raccoons got two.

    Wheelhorse Roundup at Tractorfest Biddenden

Thanks Chris for all your work, the tea, coffee, banter etc. I expect there will be more comments about my suspenders from a certain American friend. A few more photo's of mine. Pam said she wanted more twigs for her wood store, so Chris was wondering how to get this lot home.

Good set of photos Paul thanks for posting them. It was a bit disappointing, out of 15 booked in only 12 bothered to turn up !!!. at least all the 12 that turned up were all different and I think all the exhibitors had a good time. Thanks to the dedicated few that supported me and the show

Hi there, good to see another fan of these tractors. I think they have a really nice look to them, and they are very sturdy and easy to work on. I would love to see pictures of your W8! Here is a video of mine in action:
