    Cub Cadet 70 restoration

Lots is going on in the run up to my first show of the year. The bonnet has been sandblasted There was quite a few rust pits hence all of the filler Trackrods have been added and stainless steel nuts and bolts have now replaced the old. Back on all four Hoodstand back on with the new decal The front grill, wiring loom and decal now in place The new light switch that I turned from a photo of the original to match what was on the tractor. Nearly there now, just got the seat, fenders, bonnet and then a few little pieces but I'm very happy with it!

A bit more progress today. First I tackled the front axle as I wanted the Huskvarna steering set up. This turned out to be really simple. The Huskvarna axle spindles are a straight swop. Only difference is the tie bar. I don't know if it should be bent , but if it was straight the wheels would toe out something cronic. Anyway that was swapped round as in photo's. Curve to the rear. Now the fun starts. The gearbox. Photo shows where it will be, keeping the same wheelbase. I'm going to have to make a subframe to bolt/weld on to the rear of the chassis. Not worked out how yet. Two or three options. Sat the engine on just to get an idea of how it would look. You'll notice it's vertical shaft. Hence the steering arrangement change.

The 1254 is the first Bolens I ever bought and I owed it to the old girl to get her up and running. My mate, Daniel, offered his services to get her going. He made up a new loom a while back and thanks to Rick I bought a fuel tank off him and from Brian some belts and coil. Another contact in the States, Alain, sourced me a set of stators. I am really chuffed to hear that it is up and running, albiet briefly. Daniel informed me that "The head gasket is leaking oil out and over the exhaust manifold, i suppose this is good and bad, good that the oil is circulating the engine, but possible the rings are gone for there to be oil above the piston? The carb isn't leaking on the joint as bad but i have been turning the fuel tap off so it may do if left long enough, it is dribbling past the float, and from the adjustment screw, but nothing to loose sleep over."

    Simplicity 525 serf

I picked this up recently. I think it is a simplicity serf 525. It is a very small tractor and looks quite cool. I'm not sure but I think it is 1969 and I think it has the original engine. Any help on identification would be appreciated. I will prob give it a light restoration some time as shouldn't take to long.

Today I collected this rather sorry, engineless Huskvarna. Straight of the trailer and onto the bench. Started on it at 2pm and by 6pm I had the parts I want. The gearbox is a 6 speed and I believe you can change on the move. The wheel is being stubborn to remove, so has been give a good does of releasing fluid.

    Cub Cadet 70 restoration

I'm getting lots done now that I've finished school The engine has been mostly reassembled now The hood that was ready for the scrap bin has been patched up the best we could, at least there is metal there now, with a bit of filler it should look ok. With thanks to the warm weather today I got lots more painting done and some parts got reassembled
