I've been wanting to make one of these for a long time so today in and amongst painting I knocked one up out of scrap wood to work out the sizing of the actual one. Here are some photos. This is the wooden frame that I made A load of angle iron was dug out that I acquired some time ago. Thanks to my dad for the welding. Here is how far we got, still lots to do but it's getting there

My cleaner arrived today not as big as i was expecting, its just right. its got a drain tap on the side which is handy, I've put my cup in the basket so you can see the size of it. glad I didn't order a smaller one will update you once I've had time to use it

Little bit more done. The fenders have now been sandblasted and rust holes have been welded. They were then filled the best they could. Bonnet has now been etch primed and any small pits were filled. The bonnet, seat and a few other parts have now been painted cream, it looks a lot better on the photos than it is in real life but they were both rough to start with. The first coat of paint has been put on the fenders and some other parts.

Took my cultivator to the horse paddocks to break down some rutted ground from last winter, working fine until the link (m8 threaded bar) snapped. took her to pieces and decided to try something different. A 24v linear actuator, -recycled- coupled to the hitch and drawbar proved it could lift the cultivator at 12v. (also me) I removed the rockshaft, homemade, and the unit fitted under the seat with room to spare. A couple of lugs welded to the crosspiece, an extension to the 'ram' and it worked! I may add some braces from the crosspiece to the axle, but the whole lot is already stiffened by the fender raising frame added to gain clearance for the tyres. Tried it today with the discs, the ground was a bit hard, then I realised I need to change the temporary extension for one with a slot to allow the implements to 'float'. I coudn't find a dpdt switch so I knocked up a unit using a 're-cycled' joystick and three 5pin relays as a polarity reverser, the joystick has a mag-mount so It can be fitted wherever it works best, there is a button on top of the stick which has to be pressed before the other controls will operate. I may fit another actuator to the front to pic up my front weight, this is made from a number of 'flitch' (I think they are called), plates, again re-cycled, each one weighs 1.8kg. the toolbox fits to the hood grill using a couple of 'anti luce' catches, on and off in seconds, plus adds a bit more front end weight. I may try changing the Linak motor for a hydraulic cylinder as the next stage in the experiment, cylinders are no problem, and I also have an ex- mini-bus wheelchair tail-lift electro-hydraulic unit that should fit under the hood. Two one horsepower units.

They are not the best but they are a lot better than they were, it's a bit of a rush to get it finished for the first show but I can always repaint parts later that I'm not happy with

    What Is It? Landmaster?

Evening all, I picked this up today and I'm not entirely sure what it is, its not the normal shape mini tractor look alike ride on it's one of them snapper ride on's, the surface rust is all over however its not rot anywhere even the deck is solid and everything is free turning. I poured some petrol into the plug hole and she fired up, shouldn't need to much to get it running and driving again, it is chain driven from the gearbox to the rear axle. it says landmaster on it? I'm pretty sure I've heard that name thrown about on here? Can anyone tell me what this is? and is it worth keeping and restoring? or is it just a common muck? Many Thanks Charlie.

    Simplicity 525 serf

I picked this up recently. I think it is a simplicity serf 525. It is a very small tractor and looks quite cool. I'm not sure but I think it is 1969 and I think it has the original engine. Any help on identification would be appreciated. I will prob give it a light restoration some time as shouldn't take to long.

Not really other than what has been discussed already, they are a very useful item, and the price of Chris' one makes it very tempting !!

The unit I use at work states that it is not advisable to fill the cleaner with per heated water, I would fill it cold and let it warm up personally...

Not sure of the validity of this but we were warned not to pre fill with water hotter than the machine's max temp as apparently filling with just boiled water can damage the bonding between the "vibrating thingys" and the bottom of the tank. Perhaps worth bearing in mind.

Thank you for that great information and pictures Paul! You're definitely the man in the know when it comes to landmasters I knew I heard the name on here somewhere! I thought it was you that had the collection. I have replied to your PM.

    What Is It? Landmaster?

In the 1960's Landmaster marketed a ride on mower which I think was another rebadged import, this is mine dating from 1966...

Great photos Paul, It was a nice weekend away overall the weather was kind to us on Friday whilst we were setting up camp. Woke up Saturday morning to a few inches of water all around us, good job none of us had tents! but the wind and breaks of sun soon dried that up, Sunday was rather warm as was Monday however the wind really picked up Monday, I noticed a few bent awnings around the camp fields. Indeed that is my wheel horse raider 10, along with my grandfather's freshly restored Cub Cadet Original, the chap who brought my cub cadet was also at the rally however he left it in the trailer and never showed it all weekend!

Not much left now Matt, although we sometimes surprise ourselves by finding more hidden goodie's. Also finding a use for previously found "Not of interest" bits and pieces.
