Raider 16 4x4 articulated -aka project bendy
Cub Cadet and 4 others reacted to meadowfield for a post in a topic
Great weather yesterday meant bendy received his final decals and an airing in the sun. Finally fitted a throttle and made the linkages work. -
4 pointsThe plant nursery is just over a kilometer away from the house and they had a huge sale along with free food and drink, several hundred townspeople in attendance. I drove the Massey MF-14 with the cart attached and the wife walked along side, she wanted the exercise, but from the looks everyone gave me I guess they thought I was a jerk for not letting her ride in the cart or drive.

C-120 refurb.
meadowfield and 3 others reacted to Stormin for a post in a topic
A little more progress.. Side panels and foot plate wear pads fitted. The reason I've fitted pads to the rear of the plates, is to stop boot heels marking there. My C-125 has quite a worn area on the left one. Fan/flywheel cover prepped and primed. -
4 pointsThanks chaps Yep, get that visit organized Mark Not much to report, the left side foot plate thingy is taking shape. As you can see it needed quite a bit of extra metal to get it to the right shape. And a slight change of plan. The frame I made to be welded under the fender pan is now being welded to the chassis. And the latest Why Not video for ya all..

What was your first car ?
Triumph66 and 2 others reacted to Alan for a post in a topic
My first car was a 1942 Austin 8 soft top, bought for £10 including a gallon size tin of body filler approx 1964. The roof leaked like a sieve. The wipers only worked when they felt like it. Started easier with the handle than on the button, but still managed to get up to Scotland and back on holiday with it. JUST. My girl friend, now wife, used to hate it when I collected her from work, as her work mates were picked up in more modern Consuls, Vauxhall's etc. -

My first car was a Fiat 126, but it never made it onto the road.. My first "on the road" car was a Vauxhall Chevette which only lasted about 8 months until I wrapped it around the side of a bridge! -

Done a bit more today, i dont know why but i looked underneath the sump this morning and guess what no threaded holes so something else to swap over, glad i had a gaskit, next was the exhaust, it had a smaller pipe bolted to the block and of course they wouldn't undo then out with my big tap and a new piece of pipe. Might get it bolted in the tractor tomorrow -

1 pointMy first that I bought was a series 2 honda prelude, used to love it( and a couple of the girls I was seeing at the time loved the pop up head lights) but at only 19 the thirst for fuel and the cost of insurance was too much, so I started to look for something more sensible to shut my parents up and came back with a golf gti, opps. Those were the days.sigh. The below photos are of very similar car except my prelude was a silver a plate and my golf had different wheels. I'll have to try and dig out some pics I've got some where.

I've only just mastered photos James, don't confuse me even more with movies -
1 pointMy first car was a Renault 14 GTL in metallic green with a sliding vinyl sunroof registered VJK 411T bought for £90 plus a bottle of single malt from my grandfather who retired from driving due to ill health. A fantasic car to drive and so modern and refined compared to the BL cars of that era. It failed it's MOT due to rust on the suspension turrets. Here's a photo of an example of it. I still have several photos of it somewhere..... Will try and dig them out if I can.

1 pointMy first car was a brand new 1970 Vauxhall Viva saloon. I won it in a competition. I never drove it as I didn't have a car licence. Motorcycles my thing in those days. I sold the Viva and paid back my parents the money they'd loaned me toward my first house. I also bought a 1960 Reliant Regal saloon, with a 750cc side valve engine. That was to keep the first wife happy. Didn't work. So I suppose the Reliant was my first car.

1 pointHi all, thanks for the encouragement and info, that's made me feel like I've got a decent machine, (I did buy it in the end). So it looks like I may be visiting here a few times in future... Cosmetically it's no showstopper, the body panels are rusted through, but it works fine mechanically which is the main thing. Looks like it's been really neglected in the past, left out in the rain, (why would anyone do that?). The cutting deck is rotted out, but there's enough left to save it I think and as mentioned the panels around the seat are rusted like a cobweb. The seller has done a good job of restoring it to working condition. It's had a couple of non-standard mods, one to the exhaust sytem, but it works ok. It came with some extras, pulleys etc. which look like they are from a previously rusted out deck. It's frustrating that I can't use it until the deck is repaired or I find a replacement. Don't suppose any of you know of a solid deck for sale, or even if there are any out there..? Is it worth looking for one? I do have a local agricultural fabricator/welder, I'll see what he says next week. Thanks again chaps, really appreciate the useful info and all, quite invaluable, have taken note of the axle bearing comments, I'll check them.... Martin

Looking good Mark. Bet you'll get some seat time churning up the garden before the Show -
1 pointThanks Mark... I do need to get the Akerman angles sorted.. Good steering would be kinda handy for the high speed runs That would ruin the look Norm.. I will just have to move all the trees, people, cars, odd object to taste, that might be in the way during the drive It's good to know there are at least three of us here who have made a slight er.. Error whilst building steering I did look at putting the steering quadrant thingy underneath, but there just isn't the ground clearance, only 1/2 inch at best! Thanks James.. What's next is a good question, there are lot's of smaller bit's to do now all the big stuff is out the way! And for your viewing pleasure, here's the latest Why Not video..
