    Wheel mod.

The standard rear wheels on the C-121, (Black Horse), though fitted with ag tyres, are a little wide for ploughing. The earlier narrower wheels tend to be a bit hard to come by. I acquired a pair of 700 x 12 ag tyres off the Fife Pooman. These had come off a walk behind and practically new. Tubes with them as well. Bit narrow for the standard wheels, but as I had some spare wheels a plan was formed. People widen wheels, so how about going t'other way? Off to a local engineering firm with a pair of wheels. A week later I had six wheel parts and my wallet £20 lighter. Today I had some workshop time and started to build them up. Gavin who had machined them for me, had marked them up. So each half would match it's respective other half. The cut out centre pieces I cut through once to make a band that would hold the two halves in position. Yes, I know. I should have taken a photo. The band was placed round the two wheel halves and clamped in position. I only used one G clamp, as I only had one big enough and moved it round as I tacked the band in place. With both wheels done and the welds cleaned up a bit, the result is below. Not pretty I know, but they will be. Next job is to clean off the old paint. One job I really enjoy.

Morning All. Just picked up the plough yesterday an I was wondering if anyone could recognise it as a known made. Some one has welded up the disc swivel but not to much wear on the disc bearing . the moldboard adjuster has freed off ok and it just need a clean and paint.

On Friday I had a quick trip to see Alan, John and Chris (The Showman), stopping off on the way to drop off a Bolens to the other Chris (Bolens Chris as my lad calls him). It was fantastic to meet up with them all again. I picked up a Bolens 1054 which I am sure a number of you have seen before. A couple of pictures of the tractor after it arrived safe in Norfolk, the home of Bolens tractors in the UK It is a 1054-03 which I believe means that it was made in 1972. Iain

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

Sorry for not posting anything lately. As some will already know, and for those that don't, it was decided to dispose of friend Johns collection as various job lots. In view of his health, which appears to be going downhill rapidly and his desire to sell up and move to a much smaller property as quickly as possible, we thought this was the best and quickest way to go. A lot of the collection has gone already, with more spoken for. Many thanks to the various buyers. Some may be disappointed at not seeing what was for sale, but after dragging out from the various hiding places, it was found that most of the Bolens and Wheelhorses were in VERY poor condition. Although they were covered up years ago, time and the weather, plus brambles and other vegetation had come off best. There is still a lot of stuff to go yet, some of which may find it's way on here, if appropriate. Still sorting and clearing out. Can't believe how much John has collected over the years. Not just tractors and related garden machinery, but his Morris Marina cars. He has a few in almost as new, low mileage condition. Not everyone's favourite car, but John LOVED them. Again, sorry that some members may be disappointed, but acting in Johns best interest. Regards, Alan.

    O&R engine spares

The seller of the parts also had a couple of engines that had been converted for RC model use (boats). Top one is probably a pulley, but does look a bit like the flywheel used on the much older small Ohlsson model engines that weren't used for model planes. The other is possibly an adaptor for the PTO shaft, again for RC model use. I have a slightly longer one that came with an early parts engine, that was used to rebuild a Tiny Tiger with a damaged crankcase and other missing bits. David

Hi Aidan. You have one for grass cutting and one for towing your trailer. As for the Countax, one of the Scottish lads uses a Countax for ploughing with a home made plough. Does well. Have a look through the site at what others have done/made. You'll get plenty of ideas here.

    RJ plowing the garden

Hello from the USA ! I bleed orange but don't own one AC . My grandpa and father owned a AC ag tractor dealership and somehow I started collecting Wheel Horses . I currently have 10 in the stable along with 2 1964 Simplicity's and a Massey Ferguson 12 . This is my son back in October 2015 on my RJ58 . The front weight is off an early Simplicity if you're wondering . It's amazing what these little tractor with a 4hp kohler can do! http://youtu.be/pSnWliSydIU

Sounds like you need to check its connected through to the throttle linkage and the rocker for the choke is connected correctly. re: gearbox, I think the part I've circled here is possibly broken or the bit that operates it is. this is my sons gearbox as we rebuilt it, so we know exactly how it works... you might have to split it to take take a look, it's a messy job as it is filled with bentonite grease.

Hi all I have been busy this wee while converting my Little Tractor from a hand lift to a nice Hydraulic lift for the up and coming Horticultural plough matches / working days here are some pictures of it today after completion i think it was well worth the time and effort involved I think I might rename this Tractor Heinz 57 as it has a Villiers 44 h engine a countax seat two Fergy Headlights and now a hydraulic lift to boot but what the heck i think its great bring on the plough days

Hi Chris The idea behind in using an existing fixing point is if the valve block or in Rollomans case was that if the pump was fixed to the tractor frame next to the 1032 number on my tractor you would have to remove the tank to bore holes in the panel and weld on captivated nuts to hold the pump or valve block. I thought this was a better idea. see photos good thing about it is anything goes wrong with one tractor you can move it to another tractor without leaving holes or spending a lot of time doing it Sorry for hijacking your post Rolloman Have fun George S

    Ransomes Sand Skimming Tractor

Thought I better start my own thread regarding the Skimmer. Skimmer SN is 15200 which makes manufacture around about 1965, traced reg number through DVLA hasent revealed much. Main aim is to get it mechanically operational, needs some new steel welding in, mainly sheet metal parts on the top frame where seat is, and engine changed to original Ransomes 600cc. Good thing is it is all there, front auger and conveyor drive roller is free. Its not done much since it was retired as still full of sand, needs a good power wash to flush it all out of engine bay. First job is to free tracks up, get engine off and free up the controls and gear lever. I will get cracking next week but progress is likely to be slow as its being stored 25 miles away while I get the new workshop up.

I'm with C101. Pull it apart to check it out and fix it if easy enough. Nothing to loose if you are junking it anyway. Plus those small pistons and rods make a nice little key chain.

O & R Parts: Used + NOS Packaged Misc. SOLD

Here is a spread of the parts I had in storage for 30 years. I am missing pictures of my Outboard motor and 2 shrub trimmers as they are not found at this time. I also have a mint O&R motor setup on a RC model Boat stand. It is mint. It would take a lot to pry that from my grip.

    For Sale

I found this Forum on Ohlsson utiity motors by accident. I have quite a collection here. I have not looked at them in years. I have to find time to see what I have laying around here. If I recall i have a Skill saw, 2 hedge trimmers, a generator, 1 or 2 chainsaws, a 1/2" drill, an Octura model boat setup like new, maybe an outboard motor, possibly another item. I had NOS covers, tank, and misc motors apart, I have a large plastic divider with small NOS parts and a repair manual. It has been many years since I looked it these items. They may all be there or not. I just have to find the time to look for them and re-inventory them. If I do I will post more on them here.

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

John and I had a good day today with Mr Showman who came to collect a van load of goodie's. As with all of our visitors, he had a good sniff around and kept spotting and loading things which he hoped Mrs Showman wouldn't see when he arrived home. Just in case Mrs Showman did spot his latest haul and was about to give him an ear bashing, he also loaded a collection of unusual bottles as a peace offering. A few pics of the load and not a Bolens in sight. Thanks again Chris.
